"Kim has such rich and specific experience across various bodies of knowledge. We hired Kim to support our daughter in math concepts but she often bookended their lessons with reading to maintain engagement. Her encouragement and praise gave my daughter the confidence to power-through her more challenging math moments. Kim was extremely flexible with our schedule and my daughter’s learning differences. She truly met her at her level and built from there." Stacy B.

"Kim connected with my 14 year old instantly, and my daughter looks so forward to their time together each week! Kim goes above and beyond to make math lessons fun, and even communicates with the school to ensure that we are maximizing our tutoring time each week. They get more accomplished in one hour than I could’ve imagined. My daughter has not only gotten caught up in math from the learning loss experienced these past 2 years, but also has a newfound confidence in herself and her ability to tackle the challenging math concepts. Communication and scheduling with Kim is easy and efficient. I cannot say enough about her bright, joyful personality and the support and connection she provides!" Carly E.

"Kim is a knowledgeable, patient tutor who also makes learning fun. My daughter genuinely looks forward to her tutoring sessions and started showing improvement after her first session. Her time with Kim has drastically improved her confidence and overall attitude towards math. I couldn’t recommend Kim more." Kristi H.
Kimberly Pumo
Independent Education Specialist and Tutor
My experiences in the classroom and as an independent education specialist have shown me that my passion lies in working one-on-one with students to enable them to reach the full potential they didn’t think was possible before. Nothing is more exciting than watching the light bulb go on in a young person’s eyes when they realize that they, too, can excel in the classroom and have fun while doing it.

If you feel your student is not retaining the information given to them, or simply tuning out those who are trying to help, rest assured that this is a common occurrence. My goal is to create a supportive environment that builds confidence, refreshes ideas, and broadens their visions by connecting with them on a personal level. That way they have someone they respect and feel connected with and want to be accountable to.

I believe that each student has their own unique set of needs. It is my job to meet them where they are and help them develop effective learning strategies to promote academic success.

My specialty lies in executive functioning support for elementary, middle and high school students. Executive functioning skills are a set of cognitive processing skills which are necessary to learn, work, live, and function on a daily basis. Executive function is the mental strategy that promotes a student’s ability to set goals, focus attention, retain information, and balance multiple responsibilities at once.
This includes helping your student develop skills such as organization, task initiation, and planning/time management. I will help your student plan out their week and create steps to meet their weekly goals.
In addition to executive functioning, I also work with elementary and middle school students needing content support.

Executive Functions Explained
Many people have heard of executive functions but aren’t really sure what they are. Simply defined, executive functions are a set of mental skills that helps a person complete tasks. They include skills like working memory, emotional control, and organization, and they help us learn, work, and function in our daily lives. Students who struggle with executive functions often find it difficult to lean because they struggle with things like staying focused, handling emotions, finding materials, following directions, or making good choices.
